The workshop will aim to leave participants with something concrete at the end of the week, whether it be the first chapter of a novel or successfully putting shape on a work already in progress.  This workshop will offer an opportunity to get work done within a tight structure, so Eoin will be asking participants to work outside the class – in the afternoons or evenings – and to have some new work or revisions to bring in the next day.  He’d like to see something started, completed, stripped back, validated or even abandoned in favour of a new and better idea in each case.

Eoin McNamee was born in Kilkeel, County Down, in 1961. He was educated in various schools in the North of Ireland and at Trinity College, Dublin. His first book, the novella The Last of Deeds, was shortlisted for the Irish Times Literature Prize and his novels include Resurrection Man, which was later made into a film, and The Blue Tango which was long-listed for the Booker Prize. He lives in Sligo.
