This course will examine different types of writing for those interested in exploring different genres and styles. On Monday, we will look at historical writing and issues of research; Tuesday will be devoted to children's fiction; Wednesday to literary fiction; Thursday to genre fiction; Friday will look at issues related to publishing, such as how to secure an agent and how to get a publisher interested in your work. Each day's course will use examples from published works to highlight relevant issues and students will be expected to write short pieces of fiction during the class, which will be discussed by the group as a whole.
